Our swim team is a 100% volunteer-run organization, and successful meets depend on the participation of our families.

Volunteer Expectations
- If your swimmer is competing, you must fill a volunteer role.
- Many half-meet jobs available (great for families with young kids).
- Parents can split a full-meet job (one covers first half, one covers second half).
- Home meets require ~30 volunteers.
- Away meets require fewer volunteers, but still need:
- Timers
- Clerks of Course
- Stroke & Turn Officials
Special Training Roles (Optional)

- Starters
- Referees

Volunteer Job Descriptions (No Training Required)
Timers (Full Meet)
- 9 volunteers per meet
- Stand entire meet (best view of races!)
- Use stopwatch (some even auto-start electronically)
- Stop watch when swimmer touches wall
- One timer records times and gives sheet to Card Runner
- No need to reset watches at home meets as we use the Dolphin timing system
👉 Perfect for new parents — just push a button and the pool view is great!
Clerk of Course – Parking Lot (Half Meet)
- 2 per shift / 4 total
- Organize swimmers into correct heats
- Especially helpful for younger swimmers
- Walk swimmers to pool deck in order
- Use meet sheet + clipboard
Clerk of Course – Pool Deck (Half Meet)
- 1 per shift / 2 total
- Line swimmers up behind blocks
- Ensure swimmers are in correct lane/heat
- Work alongside Coaches in Training
- Use meet sheet + clipboard
Card & DQ Slip Runner (Half or Full Meet)
- 1–2 per shift
- Collect time sheets from each lane
- Deliver to computer operator (in lane order)
- Collect DQ slips from Stroke & Turn Judges
- Take DQ slips to Referee for signature
- Return signed slips to computer operator
- Stay active — lots of walking!
👉 Great if you like to stay moving.
Heat Winner Ribbons (Half or Full Meet)
- 1-2 per meet
- Stand behind timers
- Award ribbon to each heat winner
Concessions (Half Meet – Home Meets Only)
- 2 per shift / 4 total
- Set up concession stand
- Sell food & drinks
- Clean up afterward
- Work with Concession Leads
Grill Master (Full Meet – Home Meets Only)
- 2 volunteers
- Move grill to parking lot
- Grill burgers & hot dogs
- Return grill after meet
Computer Operators (Full Meet)
- 2 volunteers
- Enter race times into meet software
- Print results & ribbon labels
- Pre-season tasks:
- Set up meets
- Invite opposing team
- Seed meet
- Print meet sheets & lane cards
- League training available
- On-the-job training offered
Parking Attendant (Pre-Meet – Home Meets Only)
- 1 volunteer
- Arrive ~1 hour before meet
- Block off pool parking lot with cones
- Set up no-parking areas (map provided)
- Direct visiting team parking
- Wear safety vest
